Known issues
6 SmartFilter 4.2.0.xx Release Notes 86-0947139-B
Known issues This section lists the known issues for all SmartFilter components,
version 4.2 only.
Installation issues
The SmartFilter 4.2 installation will not start when using Red Hat Linux
Enterprise Server 5.0 if the libXp RPM is not installed. (Red Hat Enterprise
Server 5.0 switched from XFree86 to X.org’s X Window System, which does
not install the libXp RPM by default.)
To install the libXp RPM for RHES 5.0 (32-bit systems), install the
libXp-1.0.0-
8.386.rpm
from CD 2.
SmartFilter administration software issues
SmartFilter Administration Console
For UNIX, when upgrading an Administration Console only configuration (the
SmartReporter and Administration Server are installed on separate machines),
you must uninstall the SmartFilter Administration Console, then install the
SmartFilter 4.2 Administration Console.
Administration Server issues
• When setting up Novell eDirectory as a directory resource, auto
configuration is not supported. You need to manually configure the base DN
and administrator login information for this directory resource.
• When upgrading from SmartFilter 4.1 Administration Server to SmartFilter
Administration Server 4.2, the log accounts will have their descriptive name
changed to:
descriptive name for XXX
where XXX is the login ID for the log accounts.
SmartReporter issues
• If upgrading SmartReporter from 4.1.1.01 or previous 4.1.x versions, first
make a backup of your solid.db file because the upgrade modifies the
solid.db file format. The modified file format is not compatible with previous
versions; therefore you can not downgrade after upgrading to
SmartReporter 4.2 unless you have the solid.db file saved.
Important: If upgrading from 4.1.1.02, you do not need to make a backup of your
solid.db file.
• On Linux and Solaris, the Database Options button does not apply. The
Database Option button should only be used on Windows platforms when
configuring a Microsoft SQL database.
